An evening of celebrating standouts in Levittown schools

The Levittown Board of Education held its regular meeting on May 4 and dedicated time to honoring student and staff standouts.

To begin the evening of recognition, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Todd Winch honored 14 NMEA All-County selectees including Abbey Lane student Morgan Kelly, Gardiners Avenue students Evangeline Morrison, Holly Zolla, Lola Kean, Samantha Terracciano, Brynn Lemaire, Frank Carbonell, Devyn Morris, Maria Giusto, George Hakim, Erin Anderson and Hari Lee, Sofia DiPasquale from Salk Middle School Alejandro Castano from Division Avenue High School. Division Avenue’s Eunice Lee was also honored for her selection as a NMEA All-State alternate.

Continuing the spotlight on music, the following students were honored for their selection to the Long Island String Festival: Gardiners Avenue students Katherine Tymecki, Brianna Peduzzi, Cara Campbell, Skylar Untener, Brooke Untener and Holly Zolla; Salk Middle School musicians Sofia DiPasquale, Giavanna Riker, Gianna Vu, Catherine Purirojejananon, Kate Steigleider, Paul Silva, Evan Murphy, Felicia Garramone, Meaghan Campbell, Samantha LaMantia and Iris Chowdhury; and MacArthur High School students Sarah Finger, Benjamin Campbell, Emma Mignone and Josue Mendives.

Following the music honors, the Board and administration honored science research and Olympiad teams from the four secondary schools. The following students were recognized: Salk Middle School students Saahir Afraz, Allyssa Aquino, Madelyn Bogovic, Meaghan Campbell, James DeLillo, Emma Erlich, Mario Ferruzola, Maidi Ghali, Ryan Leek, Kaelyn MacDougall, Isaac Martinez, Ramon Martinez, Liam Morris, Catherine Purirojejananon, Nicholas Sanchez and Kevin Tierney; Wisdom Middle School students Ashley Agatep, Agampreet Baidwan, Jefferson Biener, Riley Cunningham, Joseph Gallo, Nish Keer, Robert Martinez Ill, Haley Pedrick, Keira Quigley, Taranpreet Rathor, Mackenzie Restivo, Helen Salib, Shruthika Veeravalli and Lillian Velez; Division Avenue students Grace Lim, Simar Parmar, Isabelle Saint, Izma Akbar, Nabiha Khan, Sofia Ferreiro, Maya Reetz, Muskan Kumar, Samantha Vedder, Chris Powers, Matt Chiu, Karan Shah, Aakash Veeravalli, Guruansh Kohli, Gary Nepravishta, Yasseen Bayoumy, Chris Evans, Daniel Collins, Cole Stellman and Ronan Postance; and MacArthur High School students Summer Looney, Erin Lung, Matthew LaSusa, Lindsey Barr and Mia Frattura.

To conclude the evening of honors, 42 staff members from throughout the district were awarded tenure.
